Enlightened Equipment Torrid Apex Jacket: First Impressions

It has taken years of indecision, but I’m ecstatic that I finally bought a Torrid Apex jacket.

TL;DW(atch) - just buy one. 5/5 stars.

In this unboxing video, I give my first impressions on the Torrid Apex and briefly compare it to a host of other insulated jackets I’ve used in the last decade-and-a-half in the backcountry of Alaska, backpacking, packrafting, biking, skiing, and dog mushing.

The only real competitor or equal to this jacket that I see is the Nunatak JMT jacket, which is, at the time of writing this, not available (I believe because they have been so inundated with Apex garment and quilt orders, they shut down ordering). I highly recommend anything by Nunatak, but at this time, I wholly suggest the Torrid.

The Torrid is basically a much better version of my favorite insulated jacket - the now ancient Mountain Hardwear Compressor.

With some extended use, I’ll do an in-depth comparison against my other insulated jackets.
